A good at-home spa gift is something that makes an ordinary bath or shower feel like a hotel stay: a heavy robe, thick towels and a soft mat to step onto. Our two spa sets both use Bathmōd organic Turkish cotton and both include four bath mats, so the gift covers the whole bathroom rather than one item. Each is $279.
Below we compare the two sets, explain the terms you'll see on the labels, and suggest which one suits which person.

Spa Robe Set: robe, slippers and 4 bath mats
The Spa Robe Set is a plush robe with matching slippers, plus a four-pack of bath mats. The slippers have a non-slip sole. This is the more personal gift: it's for one person and it's something they'll put on every morning.
Spa Bath Set: 6 towels and 4 bath mats
The Spa Bath Set replaces the towels in a bathroom in one go: two oversized bath towels, two hand towels and two washcloths, plus the same four bath mats. Bathmōd says the towels are made without synthetic dyes or bleach. Because there's no sizing, it's the safer choice when you don't know the person's measurements.
What "700 GSM" and "GOTS-certified" actually mean
These two terms come up on almost every premium towel and robe listing. Here's what they mean in plain English.
700 GSM
GSM stands for grams per square meter. It's the weight of the fabric: a square meter of the towel material weighs 700 grams. Higher GSM generally means a denser, thicker, more absorbent towel that feels heavier in the hand. Lightweight gym or beach towels are usually well below that, while hotel-style bath towels sit at the heavier end.
Heavier isn't always better for everyone. A 700 GSM towel is plush, but it also takes longer to dry on a rail than a thin one. Most people buying a spa gift want that plush feel, which is why we chose it. The bath mats are heavier again at 1,000 GSM, which makes sense for something you stand on.
GOTS-certified organic cotton
GOTS is the Global Organic Textile Standard. According to GOTS, a product carrying its label must contain at least 70% certified organic fibres, and products labelled "organic" under the standard need at least 95%. GOTS covers the processing, manufacturing, packaging, labelling and trading of the textile, with independent third-party inspections and environmental and social criteria for the companies in the supply chain.
In practice, GOTS certification tells you the organic claim has been checked by an outside body all the way through production, not just at the farm. The certification on these sets comes from the supplier, Bathmōd.
Turkish cotton
Turkish cotton is cotton grown in Turkey, known for long fibers. Long-staple cotton makes smoother, stronger yarn, which helps towels stay soft and shed less. The Bathmōd bath mats are described as long-staple organic Turkish cotton.
Robe sizing: S/M or M/L?
The robe in the Spa Robe Set uses unisex sizing in two options, S/M and M/L. Unisex means the same cut is designed to work for men and women.
Robes are forgiving garments, so most people choose by height and how they like a robe to fit. If the person you're buying for is between sizes, or likes a longer, roomier robe, go with M/L. If they're petite or prefer a robe that doesn't drag, choose S/M. If you're unsure, check the product page before ordering, and remember that change-of-mind returns carry a 15% restocking fee, so it's worth getting the size right the first time.
Gift ideas by person
For her or for him
The Spa Robe Set works for anyone, since the robe is unisex. It's the easiest gift for a partner, a parent or a close friend. Add a note about how they should use it: a long Sunday bath, a slow morning with coffee. That's what turns a robe into a spa gift.
For a couple
Give the Spa Bath Set for the shared bathroom, or give two Spa Robe Sets in two sizes so each person has their own robe. Two robe sets also means eight bath mats, which covers more than one bathroom.
For a housewarming
The Spa Bath Set is our pick. People moving into a new home almost never have enough good towels, and a full matching set looks finished in a new bathroom. It doesn't need sizing, which matters when you're buying for someone you don't know well.
For someone who has everything
Pair a spa set with something from the bedroom. Our cooling comforter guide explains the Sleepmōd set, which would complete a bed-and-bath gift. More ideas are in our luxury Christmas gifts for the home guide.
Which set should you choose?
If you can only pick one, ask yourself who will use it.
Choose the Spa Robe Set when the gift is for one person and you know roughly their size. A robe is personal. It's the thing they reach for every morning, and it reminds them of you more than a towel would.
Choose the Spa Bath Set when the gift is for a household, when you don't know the person's size, or when their current towels are thin and mismatched. It changes how the whole bathroom looks and feels, and everyone who uses that bathroom benefits.
If the budget allows, giving both covers everything: robe, slippers, six towels and eight bath mats. That's enough for a main bathroom and a guest bathroom, with spare mats while others are in the wash.
Caring for organic cotton towels and robes
Always follow the care label that comes with the product. A few general habits help any heavy cotton towel last longer: wash new towels once before using them, skip fabric softener (it coats the fibers and makes towels less absorbent), and dry them fully before folding so they don't smell musty. Heavier towels take longer to dry, so a full dryer cycle or a well-ventilated rail is worth it.
How to make it feel like a spa
The towels and robe do most of the work, but a few small things make the bathroom feel different:
- Warm the towels. Hang them on a heated rail or put them in the dryer for a few minutes before a bath.
- Lower the light. Turn off the overhead light and use a lamp or a candle.
- Clear the counter. Put everyday bottles in a cabinet and leave out one or two nice things.
- Fold towels hotel-style. Fold in thirds lengthwise, then in half, and stack them on a shelf or tray.
- Lay a bath mat at the tub and another at the sink. With four mats in each set, you can do both and still have spares while two are in the wash.
The mats have no synthetic backing. On a tiled or smooth floor, put a rug pad underneath so they stay in place.
